Our Story...

It’s all about community
1986 – Birth of United Christian Church – A group of about twenty-five Indian-Pakistani families lived in the Garland and greater Dallas area. The group was ready to grow, and a few individuals felt the need to form a church body that was geared toward Indian-Pakistani Christians and that could also support mission work in India and Pakistan. In September 1986, this vision gave birth to a home church for Indian and Pakistani families called the United Christian Church of Garland, Texas, which was registered with the State of Texas on December 12, 1986.

1989 – The church was ready to purchase a building; they bought and renovated an old school on 820 West Miller Road in Garland, Texas. That summer, the renovation was complete, and the congregation knew that their hard work had paid off. As word spread of the new Indian-Pakistani church in the Dallas metropolis, many people supported and joined the church. Within a few months, the church grew from six to about thirty-five families, or 120 people.

1998 – The church bought two acres of land on Beltline Road in Garland, Texas and paid it off in 2001.

2003 – In November 2003, this new church building was completed, and the dedication ceremony was held in December 2003.

2005 – The congregation grew out of the main church building, and the children and young adults needed a facility designed to meet their needs. Thus, United Christian Church built a fellowship hall/gymnasium in 2005 to be a multi-purpose building used to host parties, to be Vacation Bible School classrooms, and to house volleyball and basketball games.

2007 – Church built the children’s playground for ages 2–12.

2009 – Bible Training Center for Pastors and Leaders courses were offered. Many students have taken courses locally as well as on mission trips to India. The first graduating class of Pastors and Leaders was in 2014.

2017 – Progress started in 2016 on a new Education Wing built off of the current Sanctuary building. The new building holds 6 classrooms with room for Vacation Bible School and nursery. View the construction process at Building Project.
